We had a great time. My two pre-teen boys and I took the class and had a lot of fun. This was the perfect thing for the kids in between site seeing and museums. The first part of the school was very informative and then the interactive part was fun and informative as well. It is a little pricey but worth in in the end.

A history lesson and a great work out all in one! We learned about the history of gladiators in ancient Rome, got to see and handle the weapons and armor, and then spent an hour training like real gladiators including sparring with wooden gladius swords. Overall a lot of fun!

One FYI - if you are in central Rome you'll need to take a taxi to the school, and the school will call a taxi to take you back to Rome.

My husband and I did this activity while on our honeymoon in Rome! It was so much fun and we learned so much history about the gladiators that I had no idea previously. There was some physical exercise involved which turned out to be a pleasant surprise and learning how to fight like a gladiator was really fun. I would recommend everybody do this activity.

I must recommend this school to anyone young and old who wants to learn about gladiator history and fighting choreography. Yuri is the very soul of this operation and he is TOP NOTCH. Yuri's passion and knowledge really made this experience special. I gifted this to my 40 year old husband and he really enjoyed it! Please realize two things... this school is off the beaten path but it's literally ON THE APPIAN WAY... so it's a beautiful and historic area about 15 minutes cab ride from the historic area we were in Piazza Navona. Also, this is a legitimate workout... Yuri insisted in a fun way that my husband give it his all... so dress appropriately for the weather... May was very warm! What really sets this school apart is the hands-on museum where you can try on different helmets and actually pick up the weapons. You really realize how hard it was to fight in some of these garments! I want to give a special thanks again to Yuri - keep up the passion and dedication and keep inspiring others to learn more about this amazing part of Roman history.

This is good for the kids but as adults don't buy tickets! It's a fun thing for the kids, but VERY light and unorganized. I think it's worth it for the kids, just setting expectations. It's also a bit outside of the city so you need to figure out how to get there and there is nothing nearby so make sure you eat first. It's basically just a bunch of kids whacking each other with fake swords which is great if you can afford it.

Although the guide and tour of the museum were very informative and the tournament enacted by several selected participants were very entertaining, there was little opportunity for hands-on participation for the rest of us. We weren't taught how to fight nor had the chance at the rudis and shield. There were no costumes provided too. We saw participants from the earlier session having a go at fighting each other, which we were disappointed not to be able to experience. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves but were disappointed that some parts of the session were missing.
