The tour was okay, but if I had it to do over, I would have taken the train and visited the areas myself. The Pompeii tour was too short, and I didn't feel like it captured all of the parts of Pompeii that I wanted to see. We only had about 2 hours to wonder around Positano, and only 15 minutes to wander around Almafi the group was forced to waste time in a gift shop in Almafi tasting lemoncello, which we could have done anywhere. Having said this, the tour guide and driver were both fantastic and went out of their way to make us comfortable. It's a lot to cram into one day.
Excellent tour! Was very glad we booked this tour with the itinerary starting from Pompeii rather than ending there. Much better to do Pompeii in the morning before the crowds arrive. We had a great experience with the company - everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful. Our guide Andrew was knowledgeable, friendly and efficient - he thought of everything places to stop for fantastic photos of the Amalfi coast, the perfect restaurant for lunch and was flexible enough to adjust the program a little bit at the end so we got to do a little more shopping :-. Our driver Giuseppe was excellent too...felt very safe along the winding cliff roads with his steady driving. It was an amazing experience and I highly recommend the tour.
The tour itself was fantastic. Lucca and Juliano were great as driver and guide. I would go again in a heartbeat. The reason I could not give 5 stars is that, although there was no smoking on the van, it reeked of cigarette smoke to which I am highly allergic. I felt horrible all day with a headache, and I had some trouble breathing.
The tour itself was great. The driver, Stefano, and the tour guide, Lorenzo, added greatly to the enjoyment of the day. Both were very friendly and accomodating and Lorenzo was exceptionally knowlegable with excellent English speaking skills. The tour in Pompeii was EXCELLENT with the tour guide, Stefano, having 30 years experience. The small group size added much to the ability to work around some of the large groups.
The only drawback was the issue we encountered surrounding cost. The cost on the website leads one to believe that the cost for the tour was for a total group in the van of 2-3 people. Apparently the cost is based on the number of people you yourself are booking with the group size of up to 6 people. Be aware and make certain that you understand this and are not thinking you are paying for a smaller group than will actually be the case.
We had a fantastic tour. Only two of us were on the trip. The trip covers a lot of distance and we stopped at Pompei for about 90 mins and Positano for an hour to hour and a half and Amalfi for 30-45 mins. Our guide Ada was highly knowledgeable and gave us a detailed description throughout the trip. We were hoping to gain familiarity with the countryside and Italian people and we could not ask for anyone better. The guide in Pompei, Hector was also remarkably knowledgeable and wanted to give us an idea how the people of Pompei actually lived. We also had a great driver Stefan who was pleasant and took us through some backroads when the highway was blocked and got us to our destinations on time. Highly recommend if you want to see a lot of Italy in a short time !
Amazing day trip. We were picked up at our hotel by 6:45am and headed to pick up other travellers. Our first little pit stop was a coffee a toilet break at around 9-9:30am. Then we headed to a church close to the Pompeii site. Remember to wear appropriate clothes to enter the church. Next we went to Pompeii and we had a wonderful tour guide named Hector. Hector provided a good balance of laughs and wisdom. The tour at Pompeii lasted around 1.5 hours.
We then headed to Positano for lunch and were asked if we wanted to i stay at Positano longer, or ii have a short stop at Positano and head to Amalfi. Our group opted for the second scenario. Understand that traffic can be quite bad on the Amalfi coast, which was why our guide asked if we wanted to go to Amalfi or not.
I think we got to Amalfi around 4:15pm and stayed until 5pm. We got a free taste of limoncello lemon liqueur before having free time to shop/sight see. Our tour ended with us being dropped off at our hotel around 8pm... which we feel very grateful for the tour guides being willing to stay out that late. We understand the tour was supposed to end with us being back in Rome by 5pm... Thank you for the tour and for being so accommodating!!
Combining both Pompeii and the Amalfi coast in one tour makes for a long, 12 hr., day. Pompeii was very interesting but agree you do need a guide to prevent just wandering around the site, which is quite large, in summertime heat. Our site guide Hectore knew his stuff and showed us the most important of the remains. He also stated that much of what was recovered during the various excavation periods is located in the museum in Naples. Positano was worth stopping at to explore and have lunch but guide should have given a head's up to any on the tour that the walk down to the beach restaurant is quite steep and those with walking or breathing problems may take a while, especially coming back up. This one street is where most of the interesting shops are located. We felt that the subsequent stop at Amalfi was not necessary and that slightly more time should be allotted to Positano then drive back to Rome. Our driver, Stephano, was an excellent drive. Our guide, Elisa, could have provided more information along the drive down from Rome regarding various sites that were important during the invasion of Italy by the allies in WWII just to make the drive a little more interesting but she was a very personable and good guide at the sites visited.
