The driving experience is great and completely authentic - uncomfortable, noisey plus you feel vulnerable in traffic, and the overall feeling that the 33 year old car you are travelling in may not actually make it to your destination. The guide was young and well trained, but perhaps lacked the depth of experience and knowledge than somebody that may have lived through the era would have had. Our main issue with the tour was that we were placed together with another group which negatively impacted the entire experience for us. It was hard to see why this was necessary as we had two guides, two cars and in our view was totally avoidable. A private tour should be as advertised.
Highlight of my trip to Krakow. I left the tour with so much new knowledge about Poland and Krakow. Our guide was very sweet and she even drove me to wherever I had to go afterwards. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who has an interest in communist Europe.
We loved this tour! Out guide was full of knowledge and stories and both grownups and 12 year old agree that this was our favorite part of our Krakow trip : We can not recommend this tour enough. The luxury option was totally worth it. Thank you for our crazy tour, Maciej :
We had an AWESOME afternoon with our crazy guide Goshka !! The tour was fun , historical and interesting ! We loved everything about this tour , from driving around in the trabant and great commentary from our lovely guide ! We did the delux 4 hour trip and was worth it as we got to see an old apartment in Nowa Huta , we loved it all ! Special thanks to our CRAZY GUIDE !!! She was FABULOUS !!
If you visit Krakow and have any interest in the recent history of Poland you would be doing yourself a dis-service by not booking this tour. I highly recommend the deluxe tour as it also includes lunch in one of the legendary milkbars of the communist era. Sparse, but delicious. Also, if you have the ability to ask for a specific tour guide you must request Agnieszka Masternak. Not only is her English immaculate, but her knowledge and personal experiences of the transition from communism to capitalism made the tour and experience that much more enriching. A must if visiting Krakow.
