This was a fun three day coach tour. We were able to see all the sights without the hassle of driving ourselves. The coach was nice, the guide very good. We were given enough time to spend at each stop without feeling rushed. The places where stopped for lunches were very nice and the food good and reasonably priced. The Blarney Castle was a little disappointing in that the line was so long I there wasn't enough time for me stand in line to kiss the Blarney Stone. We opted to walk the gardens and grounds around the Castle which were very nice. There were other things to see, but unless you got in line to kiss the Stone you could not get into the Castle. Also we were a little disappointed as we were two of only four people who ended up at B and B in Killarney, while everyone else went to very nice hotels in Killarney for the two nights we where there. The B and B was nice, but after having already spent a few weeks in Air B and B's on our trip it would have been nice to be in the hotel as the people on the bus were all talking about how beautiful it was. I asked the guide why we didn't get to stay at the hotel and he said it had something to do with who we booked the tour with and that I might have been able to request the hotel instead of the B and B. Don't remember seeing an option when I booked the tour, but that is something to look for when you are booking this tour. Besides the sights listed, we got to see a sheep dog demonstration which was very interesting. It was at our own cost, but was not much and well worth the price. We also made a lot of photo stops so was able to take some beautiful photos. I would definitely recommend this tour.
Absolutely amazing! John was an outstanding tour guide and you could see how passionate he is about Ireland and its rich history. This is worth it for a first time traveler to Ireland because I feel like you get the most out of your trip. You don't have to worry about driving and you can enjoy the scenery. Such an amazing tour and so worth it if you only have a few days in Ireland.
Beware of the Bed and Breakfast you get put in! If you book through Viator instead of the company running this tour, you get put in a Bed and Breakfast in Killarney and ours was awful! The bed had broken springs sticking up and was lumpy, the pillows were awful, the toilet didn't flush, the walls were so thin that we heard the loud snoring of the man in the next room all night, and the room was tiny with no room to even put your luggage! We stayed one night because it was late when we arrived, then paid to stay in a hotel the second night. Those who had booked directly through the tour company got to stay in a nice hotel from the start for about the same price. Viator needs to make sure their customers are treated equally! We enjoyed Blarney Castle, the Ring of Kerry, the Cliffs of Moher and Norman, our guide, was great.
I cannot say enough about this tour, and I highly recommend it. Our tour guide Andy from RAILTOURS IRELAND FIRST CLASS met us as we boarded our train in Dublin, was very attentive, informative and fun the entire trip. He was very organized, fun and informative, and we loved his singing of various Irish songs on the bus portions of our tour. I give it a 10 out of 10. Don't miss this one if you go to Ireland.
NEVER book through Viator. Book straight through the actual company giving the tour-Rail Tours. We paid more than others and received less. Viator refused to do anything about our unacceptable bed-n-breakfast. Had we booked through Rail Tours we would have been in a hotel and been given additional perks. Tour itself is pretty good-lots of tour buses on the same tour and it sometimes felt like herding cattle.
