Running the western strip of San Francisco, Ocean Beach is a 3.5-mile strip of white beach and beautiful, yet chilly, ocean. Adjacent to Golden Gate Park and so straight and flat you’ll think it was drawn by a ruler, Ocean Beach is great for joggers, Frisbee players, young love and those just coming to the beach to watch the tide come in. Visitors will often find local surfers coming out from the nearby Sunset neighborhood to catch a wave.
Though the water is cold, the views are nice and nighttime bonfires are popular. It's easy to find your own stretch of sand here away from the crowds, making it a great way to get out of the city while remaining firmly within its borders.
