An upscale shopping mall at the heart of Montreal, Les Cours Mont-Royal houses some of the top shops in the city. It was converted from the Mont Royal Hotel and today retains its regal elegance. At the time the hotel was built, it was the largest luxury property in the British Empire.
The shopping center has everything from a spa to a medical center, and of course many high-end restaurants and shops, all set under its 12-story skylight. Architectural details including grand staircases and ornate chandeliers add to the opulence of its interior.
Its main chandelier has origins in the Monte Carlo casino. Sculptures and plants adorn its four main courts, and it’s an interesting place to even just walk around in. Fashion and style events often take place on its runway, and there’s even a Barbie doll museum on the basement floor. The luxurious shopping stop is frequently visited on tours of downtown Montreal.
There are four levels of shops alongside free parking with validation. It’s open generally from 10am to 5pm, with shorter hours on Sundays and longer on Thursday and Friday. It’s a quick walk from nearby sights such as Square Victoria.
