Located just 20 minutes drive from downtown Montreal, the Ecomuseum Zoo is Québec’s only open-air zoo, and it’s a paradise for animal lovers, with the chance to spot over 115 different animal species. Visitors can roam the 11.3-hectare (28 acre) plot and come face-to-face with Canadian wildlife including black bears, Canada lynx, grey wolves, Arctic fox, and woodland caribou, as well as enjoying zoo keeper talks and special events.
Additional highlights include the reptile house, where you can spy wood turtles and ribbonsnake; an impressive collection of birds, including Snowy Owls and the majestic Golden Eagle; and the ‘From Light to Dark’ exhibit, devoted to the zoo’s nocturnal creatures.
The Ecomuseum Zoo is located in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, 35km west of downtown Montreal, and is open daily from 9am-5pm. Adult admission is $14.25.
