HMS Caroline

A decommissioned warship that served in both World Wars, the HMS Caroline is now open to visitors who have a curiosity for naval battles and maritime history. It is a C-class light vessel, and it was the only one left floating after the significant Battle of Jutland. The HMS Caroline served for over 100 years, and is also the only ship remaining from the Grand and High Seas Fleet.

Visitors to the warship can learn all about the historic battle, as well as the lives of the 300 crew who lived on board. A short film, The Jutland Experience, brings the wartime stories to life, providing context as to the importance of the ship. Visitors can then tour the bridge, captain and senior officer’s quarters, decks, cabins, and engine rooms, which have been restored to their full former glory. Other displays explain communication at sea such as signaling and Morse code. Tours and exhibits are highly informative and suitable for all ages.
