Often referred to as Austin’s “most loved” park, the Zilker Metropolitan Park is home to 351 acres of recreational greenery, a trail of lights, the Umlauf sculpture garden and the always majestic Lady Bird Lake.
Great for all sorts of popular park activities, Zilker Metropolitan Park attendants enjoy hiking, bike-riding, barbequing, bathing in the Barton Springs, the occasional picnic or the occasional disc-golf experience. Soccer fields, tennis courts and impromptu badminton games also regularly spring to life here and families love to tour the Hartman Prehistoric Gardens to show the little ones actual dino footprints and all-too-real dinosaur sculptures. An additional attraction is the Zilker Botanical Garden with its rose sculpture in the shape of Texas and the exhibit of native plants of this great state.
Those who want to see the bulk of this fantastic urban park, but don’t want to walk, will benefit from the Zephyr Miniature Train ride which for only about $3, is equally popular with adults and children alike.
